Photo details and edits
Photo details control the public text, accessibility, categories, rights, visibility, and placement of an image. Private upload data stays separate.

Open a photo
Open Photos in Studio and select an image to open Edit photo. The same editor is available from a gallery photo.
Camera data, when safely available from the upload, is shown for your reference. Only intentional public fields and the resolved rights notice belong on the public photo surface.
Write useful public details
- Title: name the photograph when a title helps people identify or discuss it. A title can also contribute to a readable public photo URL.
- Caption: add context that is not obvious from the image, such as the place, event, subject, process, or reason the photograph belongs in the series.
- Alt text: describe the meaningful visible content for someone who cannot see the image. Write for accessibility first, not as a list of search keywords.
- Photo license: inherit the portfolio default for consistency, or choose an override when this image has different reuse terms.
- Custom rights statement: use only when the selected Photo license is Custom. ISO100 displays the statement but does not review its legal effect.
Alt text is not a caption
A caption can explain context or intent. Alt text should concisely communicate what is visually important. If a portrait caption says "Amina before the final," useful alt text might say "Amina standing backstage in a red coat beneath a single overhead light."
Do not put camera serial numbers, private addresses, hidden client notes, or precise sensitive locations into public fields.
Review alt text and category suggestions
ISO100 may suggest alt text and broad categories for a photo. Treat them as editable starting points, not as moderation results or publish decisions.
- 01Review an alt text suggestionWhen Alt text is empty and a suggestion is available, read the proposed text. Select Use this text to copy it into the field, or Dismiss to continue without it. Existing alt text is not replaced.
- 02Edit for the actual photographCorrect missing or inaccurate visible details and remove unsupported names, places, or assumptions. You can also clear the field and write your own text.
- 03Review CategoriesRemove categories that do not fit, then select any clearly supported subject, genre or context, and technique or environment categories that are useful for the photo.
- 04Save the photoSelect Save photo after reviewing the fields. If the photo is already live, publish the portfolio before expecting public output to change.
AI suggestions are separate from upload moderation. Accepting, changing, or dismissing a suggestion does not decide whether a photo can be published.
Control whether a photo can be published
Photo visibility controls whether a Ready photo can appear publicly. The portfolio still needs at least one visible, unprotected Public gallery containing a Public, Ready photo before it can be published.

- 01Change one photoOpen Edit photo, choose Photo visibility under Rights and visibility, then save the photo.
- 02Change several photosIn Photos, select Select, choose the images, then use Make public or Make draft.
- 03Update the live portfolioOpen Portfolio, preview the change, and publish. Until that publish completes, visitors can still see the previous live version.
Set crop focus
- 01Open Adjust crop focusIn Edit photo, select Adjust crop focus.
- 02Place the focus pointDrag on the photo so the reticle sits on the subject or detail that must survive a crop. Use Center to return it to the middle.
- 03Check both viewportsSwitch between Desktop and Mobile. The guide shows how the same focus point behaves in differently shaped crops.
- 04Save the photoSelect Done, then Save photo. Preview and publish if the photo is already live.
Replace an edited image
Studio currently treats a revised image file as a new photo. Use the following swap workflow to avoid breaking a live gallery before the replacement is ready.
- 01Upload the revised fileAdd it to Photos as a new image. Set its title, caption, alt text, visibility, rights, and crop focus while the old photo remains in place.
- 02Wait for ReadyDo not remove the old photo until the new upload has finished processing and can display correctly.
- 03Add and position the replacementAdd the new photo to every required gallery, place it where the old photo appears, and update portfolio covers, gallery header photos, or portfolio thumbnails that used the old image.
- 04Remove the old placementRemove the old photo from its galleries. Use Preview changes to check sequencing, crops, captions, and covers.
- 05Publish, then delete if appropriatePublish the swap. After verifying the live site, delete the old photo only if you no longer need it anywhere in Studio.
The replacement receives a different photo identity and public photo URL. Update any individual photo-page links you have shared.
Remove from a gallery or delete from ISO100
These actions have different scopes. Choose the smallest action that matches what you want.
- Remove from gallery: removes only that placement. The photo stays in the Photos library and any other galleries.
- Make draft: keeps the upload and gallery placements in Studio but excludes the photo from the next public version.
- Delete photo: permanently removes it from the library, every gallery, and future portfolio publishes. This cannot be undone.
- 01Check where the photo is usedIn Photos, review the gallery names. Also check whether the image is a portfolio cover, gallery header, or portfolio thumbnail.
- 02Choose Delete photoOpen Edit photo, select Delete photo, and confirm the permanent action.
- 03Publish the removalDeleting changes the Studio draft. Publish changes to remove the photo from the live portfolio.
- 04Recover the live presentation if neededIf an accidental deletion affected the live site after publishing, Publish history can restore an earlier live version. It does not restore the deleted photo to the Studio library.
Open Studio to make the change.
