Keep the important part of a photograph visible in covers and thumbnails, and check how the crop changes on mobile.

Choose the right crop control
A crop focus point tells ISO100 which part of a photograph to keep in view when it fills a differently shaped frame. It does not alter the uploaded original.
For a cover or gallery header, open its Appearance editor and select Adjust crop beside the chosen photo. Gallery Appearance also has an Adjust crop control for a selected portfolio thumbnail when the overview uses a cropped layout.
To change a photo’s general focus point, open Edit photo and its crop-focus control. Check other places where that photograph is used before publishing.
Adjust a cover or thumbnail
- Select the photograph
Choose the cover photo or portfolio thumbnail you want to adjust. The thumbnail represents a gallery on the portfolio overview; the header leads the gallery itself.
- Open Adjust crop
Use Auto for a suggested subject position, Center for a centered composition, or drag the point to choose your own position.
- Check both viewports
Switch between Desktop and Mobile. The visible crop depends on the frame, so one point can produce different crops at different widths.
- Finish and save
Select Done, then Save changes in Appearance. Preview the draft before publishing.
Choose a frame that suits the photograph
For the portfolio gallery overview, Cropped fills the chosen thumbnail shape. Contained and Justified retain the complete image. Gallery photo layouts have their own controls.
If part of the subject cannot fit in the frame, moving the focus point cannot recover the whole composition. Choose a different shape, an uncropped layout, or a different cover photo.
Save and publish
Save the change and publish the portfolio to update the public crop. A saved draft does not replace the live version.
Open Studio to make the change.
