Use a custom Google Font

Choose a Google Font for your portfolio or gallery title, select an available weight, and check the result before publishing.

On this page

Add a font

  1. Open Appearance

Open Portfolio > Appearance > Name and logo, or open a gallery’s Appearance editor and expand Cover. Find Title font.

  2. Choose Custom Google Font

Open the font picker and choose Custom Google Font. Open Google Fonts, choose a family, and copy the address of its specimen page.

  3. Paste the page URL

Paste the complete HTTPS page address into Google Fonts URL and select Use font. Standard specimen pages and Noto specimen pages both work. A Google Fonts CSS URL for one family also works; do not paste an HTML embed snippet.

  4. Review the title

Wait for the font to load, then check your actual title in Desktop and Mobile. The field keeps your page URL visible.

Choose a weight

When a family has multiple weights, Title weight shows the available standard weights, such as Light (300), Regular (400), Medium (500), and Bold (700). A single-weight font has no weight control. ISO100 uses the real available weight rather than inventing a bold version.

For a custom font saved before these options were added, select Use font again to discover additional weights. When changing families, check the selection: a weight the new family does not provide uses the nearest available weight.

Check the letters in your title

A font can contain more than one writing system, with different designs for each. Noto Sans Old North Arabian, for example, has ordinary sans-serif Latin letters as well as Old North Arabian characters. Selecting it does not convert an English title into that writing system.

Preview your own name on Google Fonts. If a character is missing from a font, the browser may use a fallback for that character. Accents, symbols, and mixed-language titles deserve a check.

Check spacing and flourishes

Custom titles fit around the visible strokes of each line. Long titles can wrap or become smaller to fit the selected cover. Decorative letters may still need more room than a simple sans-serif.

Check both viewport sizes after changing the title, weight, or cover layout. Try a different title size or layout if the composition feels crowded.

Save and publish

Select Save changes in Appearance to keep the change in the draft. Preview the portfolio, then publish when you want visitors to see it. Portfolio and gallery appearance are edited separately.

If the font does not load

If the field rejects the URL, use the full family-page address from fonts.google.com. Links containing several font families are not accepted.

If Use font reports a loading error, check your connection and try again. Browser extensions or network rules can block Google Fonts.

Custom fonts load from Google. If that request fails for a visitor, a fallback font can appear. The built-in font choices are hosted by ISO100.

If the result looks plain, compare the same words on Google Fonts before assuming loading failed. Some script-specific families use a conventional design for Latin letters.
